Eileen Opatut (that’s me!) is a Boomer, probably just like you. I’ve been married for 32 years, have three very expensive college age kids and I’m a super specialist in the subject of downsizing a home. I did it myself about a year ago! I’m also a real estate agent for Keller Williams and serve Buyers and Sellers, Downsizers and Upsizers, Young and Not-So-Young. My main territory is New Jersey and New York, but I work with people all over the country.
I want to share my knowledge about downsizing because I know what a pain it is. I couldn’t find any help anywhere. It was tough, giving up a home of 20 years and all the “stuff” associated with it. I made some mistakes and learned from them, and made endless lists of strategies and plans to get through one of the most difficult and important transitions I’d ever gone through. I made it to the other side and don’t regret making the decision. In fact, I’m thrilled!
So Why Listen to Me?
I understand the very specialized needs of downsizers from both a professional and personal POV. I’ve been collecting ideas and information for years on the subject. I’m a fantastic resource.
People Trust Me
My clients trust me because I’m really looking out for their needs. I don’t want to just sell a house. I really listen and help my clients make decisions that are right just for them. I can point to dozens of folks happy to talk with you about my role as facilitator, but also as chaperone, advocate, and therapist. I’ve become the “Doyenne of Downsizing” and get referral after referral because of my expertise.
Downsize, but Don’t Downgrade
You want to be happy and you have plenty of time left to do fun things. My motto is, “I’m not dead yet!” I wanted to stop being house-poor for all sorts of good reasons. (See my pic from Provence below!) I want to inspire you to set your own exciting goals for the future and help you achieve them.
Before working in Real Estate, I spent 25 years in the television industry. I was the SVP, Production and Programming for Food Network for a decade, bringing to the air most of the superstars of Food TV. I was an SVP Production for MTV Networks, an EVP of Production for BBC Television, and worked for National Geographic TV and Nickelodeon.
